CASA DE LUZ: LA BOQUITA

Casa de Luz ministry center is a lighthouse of hope and redemption to the people living along the coastlands of Nicaragua.  Hopelessness casts a dark shadow over many who are stuck in a cycle of poverty due to addiction and lack of opportunity.  For the past 12 years, Mark has been building relationships with the surfers and fishermen in this rural community nestled along the Pacific coast through activities such as surf contests, weekly Bible studies, evangelism, food pantry distribution, and discipleship.  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor.  He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Isaiah 61:1-3

MISSION STATEMENT

Our purpose stems from Isaiah 61:1 – ‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

We exist to reveal the hope of redemption through Jesus’ love to the people living on the coastlands of Nicaragua –

  • by breaking the generational cycle of poverty and helping each to discover God’s unique plan and purpose
  • by revealing God’s grace and truth and experiencing the transformational power of God which changes lives
  • by displaying God’s love to those who are deaf and disabled, forgotten and unattended, and restoring value to their lives
  • by strengthening and valuing families desiring to bear God’s image
  • by mentoring youth and cultivating spiritual leadership for future generations
  • by motivating and inspiring personal growth through the sport of surfing

OUR CORE MINISTRIES

OUR CURRENT PROJECT

LA BOQUITA

The potential to make a greater impact for the kingdom of God is at our fingertips with the recent donation of property and a building, Casa de Luz, The Lighthouse. Nestled in a fishing village along the Pacific Ocean, Casa de Luz is perfectly named as it has the highest elevation in the village with an amazing view of the ocean. Learn how God is moving to help us expand the various ministries under our care.

Surfers for Christ

Youth and adults in the community are served through evangelism, Bible Studies and mentorship while engaging in various surfing activities. Small groups promote discipleship, accountability, and cultivate spiritual leadership skills among the youth. Spiritual leaders are raised up to impact their families and community and lead the next generation.

Sewing Ministry

Women and teens are served through weekly sewing classes. They gain skills that allow them to sew for their families as well as earn money to help support their families. Sewing classes include both deaf and hearing women and sign language is the common language between us.

Elijah's Pantry

Families in great need receive groceries each month and financial assistance for medical and other basic essentials. Each family is cared for through regular visits, spiritual encouragement and prayer. Families include widows, orphans, the disabled and others experiencing great need.

Deaf Ministry

An estimated 600,00 deaf persons live in Nicaragua. Most are without language and are isolated even within their own families due to lack of communication. Our deaf ministry serves the deaf community by teaching sign language to the deaf and to their families enabling them to communicate together. Sewing and art classes are also offered to the deaf.
